Course Introduction

Seongsan-ri, home to the World Natural Heritage-listed Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, has a little-known history of the Jeju April 3rd. We'll start at Taejinmok, where many Seongsan villagers were shot by the state forces. And walk to Uumugae hill, where they were massacred in the "dynamite incident." We'll also reflect on the meaning of respecting human rights through the story of how the righteous decision of Seongsan Police Chief Moon Hyung Soon saved many lives.
