Historic Sites of the Jeju April 3rd
Youngmowon
Site Overview
On 27 May 2003, villagers of Hagui-ri built Youngmowon to pay tribute to activists who fought for independence during the Japanese colonization as well as the people who died during the Korean War and the April 3rd Uprising and Massacre. It became a model of reconciliation and coexistence as the state forces killed by armed resistance and villagers who were killed by the state forces are both commemorated here as the village discussed to do so.
