Hanmosal
Site Overview
Hanmosal means a long sandy beach and is located in Pyosun-myeon. It is also called “Dangkae or Pyosun sandy beach.” This was the massacre site where villagers of Pyosun-myeon and Namwon-myeon were killed. In December 1948, around 200 villagers from Tosan-ri were killed for a week, and the wife and children of Jo Mong-gu, executive member of South Korean Labor Party, were shot dead here.
